What version of KODI for Surround Sound via AV Receiver?

Hi, just wondering what version of KODi I should install so that I can avail of my AV Receivers 7.1 Surround Sound? I read that regular KODI has issues with the passthrough but I was wondering if this was for older versions of KODI only?
