Android 5.0 Lollipop

Hi,

Yes indeed, support for Android 5.0 Lollipop for MINIX devices (Neo X8-H and others).

So far, I'm Not too keen on using 'Android TV' for MINIX especially if 'Android TV' might limit or take away some of the great software features that MINIX incorporates.

However, Android 5.0 Lollipop with the inclusion o the new "Material Design" theme would be an awesome addition to our Television screens with MINIX :)

MINIX should use and nicely exploit all the features that Android 5.0 Lollipop has...

Can anyone confirm if the U1 plays ripped MKV VC-1 files smoothly?

I currently have the X8-H and all my movies that were encoded in VC-1 have choppy and low fps playback.

Neo X8H+ as VPN server?

Hi
I am looking to run a small vpn server in my lan. One of my minix boxes is a potential platform for this. Provided there is a vpn server app
Anyone know of such app? I cant seem to find any in play store
Perferably one that can be accesses thru ssh or some other remote access

I wish that Minix themselves OR the XDA Developers would make the newest Minix Media Player Hardware the Minix NGC-1 a DUAL BOOT SYSTEM WITH THE LATEST ANDROID SOFTWARE OFFERING but make it with a desktop GUI like the original Minix Neo X7 when it was first released all those years ago. I use my Minix X7 to this day with a wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard on the original desktop offering and nothing more and it suits me absolutely perfectly. Dead easy to use! I personally severely HATE Wind...

Saving to Super Favourites.

Having used XBMC/Kodi for a long time, I thought I knew my way around it. However, I have just installed the app Super Favourites and can find no way whatsoever to save a Movie or TV show to the app. Before I started using Minix U1, I would select the contextual menu and then select Save to Super Favourites. The only menu i can find in XBMC Kodi does not have this save option. Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear all,

We are releasing the official 008 firmware for NEO U1: FW008 (20160614).

Users with FW007 (20160415) may update to FW008 simply by OTA update, again.
(via our MINIX OTA app).

NOTE: Users with FW005 may also update to FW008 directly later this week via OTA,
skipping FW006 & FW007.

Change log since FW007:
1.) Keep audio output selection after shutdown
2.) Fixed X264/X265 seek issue
3.) Fixed VC-1 video stuttering issue
4.) Fixed X265 video stuttering issue

Google play in app purchases

Today i noticed on my U1 i could not make in app purchases in google play im pretty sure its nothing to do with the minix U1 i have done a factory reset.

1.i have the latest firmware installed

2.i am able to make direct purchases of apps in google play just not in app purchases.

3.Have contacted google support (Clueless)

Does the minix U1 have the latest version of Google play installed?

Has anybody on this forum experienced the same problem?

I've bought the Minix Neo U1. It's amazing. Updated already to last firme

But there's an app that doesn't work: Meo GO App. It opens and shows the menu but no image and sound display... Tried everithing... It works well with other systems and phones (all android 5).

Problem with Google Play Games' Audio...

Hello Minix Neo U1 users.

When playing Google Play Store games (Angry Birds, Crossy Road, etc) on my new Minix U1, there is no audio other than a high-pitched squeal. Ultimately, this sound problem prevents me from playing games on the device. I have found a couple of previous posts relating to this issue ('Questions about sound' and 'Angry Birds Game Sound'), but neither post offers a fix for this problem.

Has anyone else experienced this issue on their Minix U1? I ask, because if not, and...

Disabling IPv6

Has anyone tried to disable IPv6 on their minix?

I have an app that I use over a VPN connection, but for some reason the IPv6 traffic leaks out the vpn. The app was recently updated to use IPv6, so now instead of going through the vpn tunnel, it goes out through the internet (and there is an authentication issue). My router is in German - which I do not understand - and I have not been able to find an option there to disable IPv6.

From what I could gather on the internet, IPv6 on android can...

Display Port NGC-1

I just purchased NGC-1 and try to get dual display working, one direct to TV the other via AVR. However, the Display Port does not appear to work.

Tried direct connection via Display Port to a normal LCD computer monitor, both via DVI and HDMI input on the LCD monitor did not work. The same config from Surface Pro2 i.e. Display Port to DVI and HDMI input on LCD monitor works.

I checked
  • the display drivers and they are the latest
  • Firmware, there is no settings to change....

OS X on Minix NGC-1

Hi everybody

Tried this on tonymac86:

unibeast-install-os-x-el-capitan-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc

and this on wikigain:

create-bootable-usb-installer-for-mac-transmac

but after selecting UEFI USB media for reboot the computer is stuck in a black screen.
Any idea?

PS. Ubuntu usb installer is working without any problem.

TWRP Recovery for NEO U1

I have TWRP for the Minix NEO U1.

Note that installing TWRP may void your warranty and may prevent you from being able to install official FOTA updates. To install TWRP, download the file to your PC and attach a USB to micro USB cable from your PC to the USB OTG port on your NEO U1. Make sure you have USB debugging enabled on the NEO U1 and proper drivers installed to allow ADB to work. Once ADB is working, type the following commands:
adb push twrp-2.8.7.0-p200_2G.img /sdcard/twrp.img
adb...

XBMC v16.3 Crashes

After doing the recent 008 firmware update and then XBMC v16.3 everything seemed fine, but then the U1 would freeze whenever I tried playing a video using XBMC over my network (wired). I tried doing a factory reset, didn't help. I then did a full system reflashing using fw007. That went well. Problem now is XBMC is gone and ES File Explorer is missing. I have no way to explore my network to install minix XBMC from my PC. What can I do now?

NGC-1 V1.2 BIOS update

Dear all MINIX NGC-1 users,

We have released a BIOS update for NGC-1, BIOS version 1.2.

This update shall include the followings:

1.) Enable H.265 support;
2.) Enable Wake on LAN (WOL) support;
3.) Boot sequence re-assigned, removed a useless "P0" option;
4.) Updated Intel GOP Driver (VBIOS);
5.) Added MINIX boot logo; (not really that important)

Minix U1 or Nvidia Shield

I'm considering returning my Minix U1 for a Nvidia Shield, which will cost £50 more. I'm after opinions from people who know more about the advantages and disadvantages of doing this, but I have read the Nvidia box has more horsepower and, unlike the Minix, supports full HD in both Youtube and Netflix. What advantages does the Minix have and, whilst I know this is a Minix forum, would it be a good idea to do this in your opinions?
